Gettin’ my treats on Route 66

We left Gleanings on Saturday morning, February 8 and drove to Amboy, California, which is on historic Route 66. Yeah, that’s me in the middle of the highway! (What were my parents thinking?)

Just past Barstow on Route 66, we stopped at Roy’s Motel, Cafe, and Gas station in Amboy, California. The Motel and Cafe are just things to look at now, but the gas station still operates and has a gift shop. It’s been used as a set for lots of movies when a lone gas station in the desert is needed.

You probably thought I went to London, England next, but I didn’t! This bridge was brought to Lake Havasu City, Arizona from London, though! They disassembled it there, marked each piece, sent it here, and reassembled it! Kinda like Legos on a giant scale!

We spent one day in Kingman, Arizona. It was a really big city on Route 66 many years ago. We toured their amazing Arts and History Museum and the Route 66 Museum there. We met some really nice folks who own a gluten-free bakery — no dog treats, tho, so how good can they be?!

Quartzsite, Arizona is just a wide spot in the desert with a buzzillion motor homes and quads all over the place. The best part was the full moon sky — and then the moon was still there the next morning. We have such creative fighter pilots in our Air Force, huh?

Here’s a little something for you to read while we travel to Tucson, Arizona! See ya soon!
